I, Printer Ink

I didn't like the prices in the stores so I launched an online, printer ink store that shows actual price comparisons.

I visited a warehouse not too long ago whose line was of all office products. I had observed an item in particular that was always being stacked by the pallet full, replenished on the floor and then stacked again by the pallet full to be shipped out again. That item is the printer cartridge.

Toner by two brands in particular sold like hotcakes and still do. The few moments I had observing the hustle and bustle of hard-working Americans, it occured to me the value of printer ink. I never thought about printer ink and toner as much as I do now. After my experience in a warehouse of every office necessity one could think of, ink cartridges were in almost every order. Printer ink is important but I never knew the up close and personal importance of it until someone picked my jaw up off the floor.

I decided to offer an online store's worth of ink for printers. Yes, I'm sure you've seen them before. I didn't want to go into business for myself under one company name or be restricted to one brand. I wanted to offer all printer ink brands and allow visitors to my Internet store to compare pricing. I wanted a store where visitors could view discounted costs, retail costs and independent merchant costs. I wanted my visitors to become buyers because they would see firsthand their savings.

To further my research, I visited physical storefronts. Printer cartridges, which I'm sure you already know, are expensive. Very necessary but expensive. I needed to launch my online store soon so people wouldn't have only local retailer prices to contend with. I wanted to offer comparisons on all inks and toners which I now successfully do. I couldn't believe the exorbitant retail costs some of these cartridges went for.

I understand physical storefronts are required to nourish their overhead, supplement their salesforce with adequate advertising and salary their employees. The difference is, some of the retailers I had frequented weren't selling items such as printer ribbons like hotcakes. Maybe gallons of milk but not printer ink.

Consumers are wiser these days. They skip all the media and ad fluff and shop directly online. After the unit cost + sales tax + shipping, they're still ahead of the dollar signs. Oh, yes, shipping. They wait up to 3 days at most because they are locating independent merchants within their state's borders. Is it a downfall having to wait out transit times? Well, an extra day or two isn't costing you anymore money nor will hurt productivity unless you're one of those last minute office managers who chokes their budget until their printer cartridges are drained of all colors. Then I would suggest you go to the store.
